Grains

​I bet you acted shocked when someone said the rice you wanted thrown would kill some hungry birds, but I think you knew it would.
I’m sure you thought I’d notice she looks like Helen Hunt after we watched Twister three times, but I think you didn’t care.
I guess you thought not to drop receipts for flowers I never saw, but I think you knew I’d notice.
I’m sure she never knew I had picked out those wedding invitations, and I’m sure she’d have no reason to think I did.
I saw you fake a couple tears when Gretchen and your pastor never showed, but I know they were the ones who liked me.
I heard you tell her you weren’t humming Eleanor Rigby at the courthouse, but I think you bet I’d hear.
I bet you tried not to imagine me staying up all night, counting grains of rice, but I think you knew I would.
