Theme Each year, the staff at The Kiln Project select a theme for the upcoming issue. For Spring 2015, writers were challenged to think about the term “oneiric,” an adjective meaning “of or relating to dreams.” For some, this meant taking a nightmarish turn onto a dark, emotionally-charged path. Others took a more idealistic, lighthearted take on the idea. The theme is not meant to be restrictive; rather, the goal is to inspire writers and bring unity to the published journal.
The Kiln Experience The Spring 2015 Experience titled “Oneiric: A Short Film” encapsulates the vibrancy and exhilaration, as well as the fear and chaos, experienced through our dreams and nightmares. Excerpts from each creative work published in The Kiln Project are included in the script for the film and together showcase a beautiful, yet haunting, juxtaposition between our dreams and the reality that exists when we open up our eyes. The stop motion film, composed of thousands of individual photographs to create an active, yet disjointed, story, captures this idea.
